Its another beautiful week. I hope to you too.
So I love travelling and having a baby has made that a bit challenging but after few trips it became even more fun sharing the experience with my daughter. When she was a month old we went for her aunties' graduation and since then it has been a roller coaster.
1. There is no traveling light when there is a an infant or a toddler
One of the things I have learnt so far is that baby's come with a lot of surprises and you can't be too prepared. That's why over sized hand bags are your best friend. Whether it is just going to the clinic or traveling out of town remember to carry
- An extra outfit for your baby, additional t shirt or trouser or dress or short have an extra one
- Carry the baby's favorite toy
- If she/he's using a pathfinder carry it along
- A bottle of water
- A bottle of milk. Even if you are breast feeding exclusively just have it as back up (You will thank me some day). If you have a long journey make sure to carry porridge or cerelac and/ a prepared food from home
- Baby wipes
- 5-6 pieces of white cotton cloth like nap liners
- Baby shawl
- Additional sweater
- About 2 bibs
- Carry a lot of diapers
- if its a long journey a bottle of hot water may come in handy
- An empty plastic or paper bag (Its not healthy to throw dirty diapers out the window)
- A pair of khanga
- An extra blouse for you
- A shawl for you
2. When you are going out of town even if it is for a day remember to carry a first aid kit.
3.Do not travel alone
4. A day before a journey or a trip make sure to have all your baby's clothes are all prepared and put ready
5.If a trip will take more than a day remember to carry all your baby's toiletries, it is not health for a baby to share these items (soap, oil, tooth brush, tooth paste, comb etc)
6. Remember to check the weather of where you are going to know the type of cloth you need to carry for the baby
7. Don't forget there is you. Many women especially first time moms become too involved to the need of their children and forget to pack for themselves.
